Job Description

Based in Phoenix and onsite, this role centers on designing, deploying, and maintaining security solutions for our organization and clients. The Level 2 Security Engineer leads projects, coordinates incident response, and ensures regulatory compliance while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with clients on security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy security controls and architectures tailored to client environments
  • Integrate cybersecurity best practices into development and deployment lifecycles
  • Maintain security tools, processes, and policies aligned with standards such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and PCI DSS
  • Perform and lead vulnerability assessments and penetration testing; oversee remediation activities
  • Coordinate incident response, including stakeholder communications, compliance with Arizona breach notification laws, and post incident reviews
  • Develop and update security policies and conduct training for staff and clients
  • Mentor junior security engineers and supervise security projects
  • Monitor security alerts and events via SIEM and related tools
  • Assist with patch management across client environments
  • Investigate suspected vulnerabilities or breaches and report findings
  • Generate regular security reports for senior management and clients
  • Assist with audits and regulatory compliance activities
  • Collaborate with sales and account management to assess client security needs and design solutions
  • Implement automation and advanced controls such as MFA and encryption to scale security across multiple clients

About the Role

The Security Solutions Engineer at this level is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures that protect both the organization and its clients. You will lead projects, manage incident response, ensure alignment with industry standards and state regulations including Arizona data breach notification laws, and mentor junior staff. The position blends hands-on technical work with client-facing collaboration to sustain a proactive security posture.

Preferred Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Certifications such as Security+, CEH, CASP, SSCP, CISSP, or CISM
  • 4 to 6 years of cybersecurity experience, including at least 2 years as a Security Engineer
  • Familiarity with frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS)
  • Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management tools
  • Operating systems knowledge across Windows, Linux, and MacOS
  • Background in an MSP or multi-client environment is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Arizona data breach notification laws (A.R.S. 18-551, 18-552) is a plus
