Senior Analytics Engineer
Job Description
Senior Analytics Engineer at DataTrek focused on data engineering, dashboards, analytical applications, and BI solutions for a government-facing client, enabling informed decisions by senior government leaders.
Responsibilities
- Create and sustain interactive dashboards and analytical applications for senior government stakeholders
- Interpret high-level directives from government leadership into well-scoped deliverables and shepherd them to completion
- Develop data visualizations that reveal insights from complex datasets in an actionable format
- Own end-to-end BI product delivery, from requirements gathering and wireframing through development, QA, and handoff
- Collaborate with stakeholders to iterate on solutions as requirements evolve, aligning expectations through clear communication
- Build and maintain data pipelines in Databricks and Palantir Foundry to support dashboards and analytics
- Work with large, complex datasets and transform them into clean, reliable data models for reporting and visualization
- Design and implement data integration solutions from multiple source systems to support delivery
- Ensure data quality, performance, and reliability across pipelines and downstream analytics outputs
- Collaborate with team members using Git for version control and code collaboration
- Engage directly with senior government officials to understand strategic goals, even when formal requirements are unclear
- Lead working sessions to elicit requirements, validate designs, and gather feedback from non-technical leaders
- Document solutions clearly and explain technical concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical audiences at all levels
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor, proactively flagging issues, proposing solutions, and communicating status transparently
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development
- Proven track record building dashboards and analytical applications on Palantir Foundry, Tableau, or similar platforms
- Extensive experience with Databricks and Palantir Foundry
- Strong SQL proficiency with hands-on Python and PySpark experience
- Experience in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Proven ability to work directly with senior or executive stakeholders and translate ambiguity into deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal communication for presenting technical findings
- Self-starter with the ability to take ownership and drive work independently
- U.S. citizenship required
- Active DoD Secret clearance required
