Job Description

A Senior Data Analytics Engineer at Riot Platforms in Austin, TX, on-site, will build and scale the data foundation that informs decision-making, owning end-to-end data models across ERP, project management, and operational platforms, and delivering reliable reporting through the BI stack for Data Center, Bitcoin Mining, and Manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and sustain scalable fact and dimension data models in the cloud data warehouse to enable enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Develop a trusted reporting layer by integrating and modeling data from ERP, financial, project management, and operational systems (NetSuite, Procore, Epicor, Snowflake, Timestream) to ensure a single source of truth.
  • Identify gaps where key financial or operational details are lost during data handoffs and design structures that preserve analytic fidelity.
  • Define scalable modeling standards and analytics best practices, including naming conventions, metric logic, testing, and maintainability across the analytics stack.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and semantic models in BI tooling to provide visibility into financial performance, project execution, and operational KPIs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate ambiguous business questions such as cost overruns, efficiency gaps, and project performance into defined datasets, metrics, and reporting solutions.
  • Support and enhance planning and forecasting environments to align planning, forecasting, and actual performance.
  • Define, document, and govern standardized KPIs across Finance, IT, Continuous Improvement, Operations, and other functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, BI, or a related data role.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex joins, window functions, CTEs, set-based logic, and query optimization across large datasets; able to read, refactor, and optimize SQL written by others.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, or similar); Snowflake experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, and scalable analytics structures.
  • Hands-on experience with BI and semantic-layer tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Sigma, Grafana, or equivalents; strong DAX or similar semantic-layer skills preferred.
  • Experience integrating data from ERP, financial, project management, or other operational systems (NetSuite, Epicor, Procore, SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar).
  • Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and the capacity to tackle loosely defined business questions while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional comfort thriving in an environment where priorities span finance, operations, and analytics.
