Senior Data Engineer

Peraton is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a suite of web-based applications that automate compliant data management for IC data custodians. The role focuses on designing and implementing data engineering solutions that standardize data movement, routing, and reuse across concurrent, IC-provided datasets.

This position will help map and model transformation routines and document data flows that enable ingestion into the customer’s corporate repositories, supporting reliable integration across mission-critical environments.

About the role

• Support web-based applications that automate data management for IC data custodians.
• Facilitate capture of information and approvals to enable compliant data movement through the customer mission space.
• Help standardize and simplify data movement and enable reuse and integration with downstream tools.

Responsibilities

• Outline, develop, and implement data engineering solutions.
• Work with numerous concurrent IC-provided data sets to identify, map, and model data transformation routines.
• Support ingestion into the customer’s corporate repositories and document new and existing data flows.
• Document data routing implementations across concurrent IC-provided data sets.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with current polygraph required.
• Twenty (20) years of experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Five (5) years of additional systems engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Working knowledge of smart data systems and entitlements.
• Experience with current and evolving agency dataflow and reporting solutions.
• Experience developing system requirements for performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security for mid-to-large scale systems.
• Experience leading agile development models.
• Experience integrating COTS and GOTS products from multiple vendors.
• Experience developing and deploying storage within clustered or cloud environments.
• Experience planning and integrating secure compliant solutions based on legal, policy, and compliance directives.
• Working knowledge of NiFi and comfort working in Linux; ability to interact with data ontologies (schemas) and structured data types (XML, CSV, JSON).
• Database experience (MySQL/NoSQL) and analytic query experience with a platform.

Salary and location

• Location: Annapolis Junction, MD (onsite).
• Target Salary Range: USD 176,000 - 282,000 per yearly.
• Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
