Senior Data Engineer – Generative AI

Astyra Corporation is hiring a Senior Data Engineer – Generative AI for a hybrid role based in Richmond, VA. This position focuses on building a data reconciliation solution that compares information across legacy and modernized platforms, combining strong data engineering with hands-on Generative AI development using Python, LangGraph, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).

As part of the team, you will design and deliver scalable, maintainable utilities that support broader modernization efforts, including production validation, troubleshooting, and testing. The work is collaborative with senior engineers and architects as the reconciliation platform evolves.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a data reconciliation utility to compare data between legacy and modernized platforms
• Create solutions to detect data discrepancies, patterns, anomalies, and nuanced differences across large datasets
• Use Generative AI alongside pattern matching, regex, and other techniques to improve data comparison and reconciliation
• Develop hands-on solutions with Python and modern Generative AI frameworks
• Integrate with and consume external services through Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Build agentic or workflow-based solutions using LangGraph
• Partner with senior engineers and architects to design and accelerate development of the reconciliation platform
• Implement scalable, maintainable data engineering solutions supporting modernization initiatives
• Support data validation, testing, troubleshooting, and production implementation
• Contribute to broader data engineering efforts as the reconciliation capability matures

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Strong hands-on background in data engineering
• Demonstrated experience building solutions using Generative AI
• Strong Python development skills
• Hands-on experience with LangGraph or similar agentic AI frameworks
• Experience working with Model Context Protocol (MCP), including consuming MCP services
• Experience building solutions involving data comparison, reconciliation, pattern detection, or data validation
• Strong understanding of data processing and transformation concepts
• Experience delivering production-quality solutions within modern CI/CD environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a hands-on engineering role
