Senior Electrical Engineer

Kano Consultants Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support electric utility clients through studies, design development, and engineering support for medium and high voltage applications. This full-time hybrid position blends remote work with in-office and on-site collaboration around Pleasanton, CA and Northern California projects.

In this role, you will guide engineering work from early scoping through construction, serve as a technical interface across stakeholders, and help ensure deliverables align with project scope, schedule, and budget while meeting applicable standards.

Role Summary

You will bring electric utility experience to client engagements that include system studies, development of construction drawings, and project engineering support for medium and high voltage systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Engineering and Design process from scoping through construction.
• Develop and review electrical designs, including single lines, arrangements, grounding, and protection & control.
• Coordinate design activities across disciplines and ensure deliverables meet project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Support procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Act as the technical point of contact between clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation and provide regular project updates to stakeholders.
• Review manufacturer specifications and advise clients on project scoping.
• Perform protection coordination studies for transmission lines, substation transformers, and generators.
• Ensure work aligns with applicable standards.
• Develop training for new engineers.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering
• 5 years of work experience
• Professional Engineering License in California
• Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
• Strong knowledge of Substation Standards (IEEE)

Work Location

• Hybrid: about 50% remote work, with the remaining 50% requiring commuting to the office in Pleasanton, CA or to a client facility in Northern California.

Compensation

• $130,000 to $230,000 per year
