Senior Engineer - Energy Consulting Services
Job Description
This remote position is for a Senior Engineer within GE Vernova Energy Consulting Services, with a focus on Grid Code Testing and NERC model verification. The role requires cross-functional collaboration to support power plant owners, grid companies, and GE teams by testing equipment and validating interconnection requirements and generator models for grid planning.
Responsibilities
- Plan, propose, negotiate, lead, and report on field tests conducted at customer power plants to support compliance with evolving regulatory standards for steady-state performance, dynamic performance, and modeling.
- Maintain effective communication with clients to support testing and compliance needs and promptly resolve issues.
- Provide power systems engineering input to GE projects, including design studies, equipment specification work, and commissioning support.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of generation products in alignment with evolving codes and standards.
- Help develop new tools and improve existing tools used by the team.
- Engage in identifying and pursuing new customers and business opportunities, prepare proposals, create/assign projects, and manage billing and closings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electric Power Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of five years of experience in engineering and/or product management in the power generation industry, or an MS with three years of experience.

Eligibility Requirements
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30 percent of the time, domestically and internationally
Desired Characteristics
- Advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electric Power Engineering
- Field experience with thermal power generation turbines and excitation control systems
- Knowledge of electrical or electric power engineering, including conventional and renewable power plant design and operation
- Experience with load flow, dynamic, short-circuit, and protection modeling and analyses
- Proficiency in power systems analysis using dynamic/transient simulation and tools such as PSLF, PSS/e, PSCAD, and MATLAB
- Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget as an individual contributor or project manager
- Strong engineering analysis and design capabilities, with the ability to develop solutions in a collaborative team environment and provide technical consulting
- Proficiency with office productivity software including MS Office, Visio, and MS Project
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external customers and plant staff
- Six Sigma or equivalent quality/LEAN certification
- Solid project management and collaboration skills
