Job Description

The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc. is seeking a Senior GNC Systems Engineer to join the Hypersonic and Advanced Weapons group onsite in Cambridge, MA. This role leads multi-disciplinary teams to conceive next-generation weapon system concepts and advance GNC subsystem technology for national security applications. The salary range is USD 82,300 to 220,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative weapon system concepts to address complex mission problems
  • Adapt to shifting program priorities and requirements
  • Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams and complete assignments independently
  • Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction
  • Lead small teams and align efforts with program goals
  • Provide insights and propose design modifications based on analysis, applying techniques across diverse challenges
  • Identify program and system level technical risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Mentor junior engineers and offer constructive feedback
  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills with a system-level perspective
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Hands-on experience with simulation-based performance analysis
  • Experience with the systems engineering process
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation, coding, descriptive modeling (SysML), STPA, and/or other engineering analysis tools
  • Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cyber security, encryption, threat modeling, or related technologies as defined in the role
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a systems engineer or in a related role
  • Applicants must obtain and maintain a government security clearance

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field. A master's degree or higher is highly preferred.
