Senior Hardware Design Engineer

Sonnet Technologies is hiring a Senior Hardware Design Engineer in Lake Forest, CA for an onsite, hands-on role spanning the full product development cycle. The position focuses on complex, high-speed circuit card assembly design, combining strong high-speed digital and mixed-signal experience with laboratory troubleshooting and validation ownership.

Position Overview

This is a technical role with substantial responsibility from early architecture decisions through production readiness. You will support the end-to-end process, including component selection, schematic design and simulation, PCB layout guidance, prototype bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, compliance activities, and production release. Success in the role relies on both design depth and effective lab-based debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design complex high-speed digital and mixed-signal hardware.
• Lead high-speed, multi-layer PCB work, including impedance-controlled layout and stack-up design.
• Own prototype hardware bring-up, including functional verification, system integration, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing, technical support, and product teams across development.
• Work with outside design and manufacturing partners as needed.
• Manage product compliance and certification testing with outside laboratories.

Requirements

• BSEE education.
• 7+ years of relevant hardware design experience.
