Senior Hydraulics & Hydrology Engineer

At Per Se Group, a Senior Hydraulics & Hydrology Engineer will steer hydrologic and hydraulic modeling efforts for both new and existing hydropower developments. This remote role brings together civil, structural, and mechanical engineers to steer projects from concept through construction while coordinating with regulatory bodies. You will shape critical decisions that balance performance, compliance, and cost across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Direct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for new and existing hydropower facilities.
• Assess hydraulic structures for navigation, scour, sediment transport, erosion, ice effects, and hydraulic transients.
• Design and optimize water conveyance systems, intake structures, tailraces, cofferdams, and related infrastructure.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and mechanical engineers to guide project development from concept through construction.
• Support FEMA floodplain analyses, permitting efforts, and regulatory coordination.
• Review physical hydraulic models and translate findings into final designs.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including RFIs, submittals, field reviews, and change management.
• Present technical recommendations that influence major engineering and business decisions.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Eight or more years of hydraulics and hydrology experience.
• Proficiency with HEC-RAS and GEOHECRAS.
• Experience with GIS platforms and Civil3D.
• Demonstrated leadership of technical work and collaboration across disciplines.
• Understanding of how engineering choices impact permitting, constructability, cost, and long-term performance.
