Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Liine is expanding its data analytics and marketing analytics platforms and is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to help build and scale machine learning capabilities. The role combines platform-focused ML work with NLP and LLM-based systems, with close collaboration across engineering and product to ship features that deliver measurable value.

Role focus

• Scale and improve machine learning platforms and pipelines through the full lifecycle: research, develop, evaluate, deploy, and monitor.
• Design and maintain NLP systems, including training and fine-tuning language models, entity resolution, and LLM-based classification.
• Integrate ML into the product ecosystem by connecting models with backend APIs, microservices, and data pipelines.
• Contribute to ML direction by providing input on machine learning strategy, model architecture, and how the ML team and systems evolve.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable ML platforms and data pipelines that support reliable deployment and ongoing monitoring.
• Build and maintain NLP solutions, including language model training and fine-tuning, entity resolution tools, and LLM-based classification systems.
• Review code and support software development best practices within Liine’s standard SDLC.
• Integrate and update backend APIs, microservices, and data pipelines so they connect cleanly to ML platforms.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to deliver machine learning features that create real value.

Requirements

• 3+ years of machine learning experience.
• Using AI tools as a core part of building, as a default approach rather than an experiment.
• Python proficiency and key data science libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and PyTorch.
• Experience prototyping solutions for novel, open-ended problems and turning them into dependable production systems.
• Ability to deploy machine learning models into production environments using MLOps and ModelOps.
• Hands-on experience with feature engineering, feature selection, and model architecture.
• Working with large distributed systems and data pipelines.
• Strong execution habits, including meticulous attention to detail, honest communication, and a high-output mindset.

Location and work schedule

• Candidates who can work from the downtown Raleigh office are preferred, with consideration for exceptional remote applications
• Work from the downtown Raleigh office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with the option to work remotely on Tuesdays and Thursdays
