Senior Mixed-Signal Hardware Design Engineer
Job Description
HYPERLABS INC. is seeking a Senior Mixed-Signal Hardware Design Engineer for a 100% onsite role in Louisville, CO. In this position, you will design printed circuit board assemblies that connect high-speed analog receive/transmit hardware with digital processing platforms for a broadband instrumentation product line.
The work centers on power delivery, interface definition and documentation, signal integrity, and end-to-end hardware realization, including circuit and schematic development, PCB layout, and hands-on test, characterization, and troubleshooting using HYPERLABS proprietary instrumentation hardware and AMD Zynq MPSoC compute platforms.
Responsibilities
- Analyze power requirements for all digital and analog devices.
- Create and maintain formal power budget documentation.
- Design and implement DC power schemes using switch-mode converters and linear regulators.
- Define and document interface requirements between high-speed analog hardware, data converters, and digital controllers.
- Generate and maintain specifications for control signals including GPIO, SPI, I2C, JESD204, and USB.
- Evaluate and specify controlled impedance transmission line geometries and high-speed connectors to support signal integrity targets.
- Create, specify, and maintain CAD components within the HYPERLABS part database using OrCAD EDM and CIP.
- Architect and implement new circuits, including discrete transistor-level design.
- Integrate new and existing hardware IP into comprehensive schematic designs using OrCAD Capture.
- Direct PCB layout activities in OrCAD PCB Designer (Allegro), meeting physical, thermal, and signal integrity constraints.
- Perform rigorous testing, characterization, and troubleshooting for both new prototypes and existing production hardware.
Requirements
- BSEE minimum; MSEE preferred.
- 5+ years of professional mixed-signal electronic hardware design experience.
- Strong foundation in Circuits 101 and discrete transistor-level design.
- Understanding of scattering parameters, signal reflection, and wave interference.
- Board-level design experience with hardware interfacing standards including SPI, I2C, JESD204, USB, and Ethernet.
- Experience designing with high-speed DACs and ADCs.
- Familiarity with industry-standard high-speed input/output buffer topologies such as CML, ECL, LVDS, CMOS, including correct termination and AC/DC coupling approaches.
- Hands-on experience with the Cadence/OrCAD ecosystem: OrCAD Capture, OrCAD PCB Designer/Allegro, EDM, CIP, and CIS.
- Proficiency in scripting or test automation programming using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
- Board-level design experience integrating FPGAs, MPSoCs, and DDR4 memory.
- Previous design experience with RF mixers.
- Background in signal processing and sampling theory.
- Louisville, CO 80027: Relocate before starting work (Required).

Compensation and Work Details
- Salary: USD 135,000 - 185,000 per year
