Job Description

Raytheon is hiring a Senior Principal RF Design Engineer for a 1st shift, 100% on-site role based in the MA2 area of Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA. The position focuses on RF architecture and requirements, hardware design, and hands-on testing for radar receiver, exciter, and transmitter products.

This role is based on-site and requires support across multiple Massachusetts sites, with travel anticipated. It also requires an active, existing U.S. Secret DoD security clearance after day 1, with U.S. citizenship required for eligibility.

What you will do

  • Develop RF system architecture, analyze requirements, and execute hardware design.
  • Perform hands-on testing of components, circuit card assemblies, and subsystems.
  • Design and develop transmitters, receivers, or exciters.
  • Design and optimize RF circuits, including either RF chains (receiver/exciter, etc.) or individual components such as filters, limiters, and couplers.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across power, digital, and mechanical functions.
  • Support schematic capture and RF routing.
  • Provide technical support during transition to production and ongoing production activities.
  • Manage cost and schedule and contribute to proposal writing.
  • Operate as a 100% on-site employee in Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA, with travel between multiple MA sites anticipated.

Required qualifications

  • Typically requires a STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) and 10+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem and/or component analysis, including design and/or test.
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, and/or Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as MATLAB.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance, with U.S. citizenship required (only U.S. citizens are eligible).
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working in design from concept through production.
  • Experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.
  • Background designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, including yield and margin analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills, including proactive identification of alternate solutions to address difficult technical challenges.
  • Experience with technical writing and oral presentations.
  • Technical background in one or more areas: cascade analysis and/or frequency planning, filter design and fabrication, circuit card assembly and fabrication, high speed data converter test/characterization, and/or low noise RF source design and test.

  • Base salary: USD 132,400 - 251,600 per yearly
