Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
Odyssey Systems Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team focused on a high-performance Multimode Threat Engagement Simulation Platform. The role spans a Julia-backed physics server, a React/TypeScript front end with CesiumJS visualization, and CI/CD pipelines, all aimed at delivering robust scientific computing capabilities. The position offers a salary range of USD 130,000 to 160,000 per year and a hybrid work arrangement based in either Colorado Springs, CO or Boston, MA, with regular travel to support program needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize the Julia physics computation server, including trajectory integration with RK4/RK45 schemes via DifferentialEquations.jl, SGP4 orbital propagation using SatelliteToolbox.jl, and a Monte Carlo driver employing Threads.@threads for parallelism.
- Profile critical computation paths, benchmark throughput and latency, and ensure program requirements are met, such as executing 10,000 Monte Carlo runs within specified time limits.
- Integrate ONNX.jl surrogate model inference to enable real-time parameter sweeps, targeting sub-1 millisecond interactive latency.
- Generate CZML from physics outputs to drive time-dynamic Cesium visualization of trajectory arcs, orbital paths, and coverage footprints.
- Design and maintain the mission data model, including JSON serialization, a versioned file format with backward compatibility, and cross-platform path handling for Windows and Linux.
- Build an HTTP.jl API layer with clear request/response schemas, robust error handling, and structured logging.
- Create React/TypeScript components for the mission planning interface, including a tabbed overview, asset and task trees, parameter forms, and an analysis panel.
- Integrate and maintain the CesiumJS/Resium 3D globe, handling asset markers, trajectory rendering, satellite ground tracks, coverage footprints, and CZML-driven animation via the Cesium timeline.
- Manage frontend state for a data-heavy desktop application, covering mission data, UI state, and asynchronous physics query results.
- Develop data-driven visualizations of trajectories, Pk curves, and Monte Carlo distributions with libraries such as Recharts or Plotly.js.
- Oversee the CI/CD workflow in GitHub Actions, delivering Windows NSIS installers and Linux AppImages from a single codebase.
- Coordinate PackageCompiler.jl sysimage builds for the Julia physics server on target platforms, and manage electron-builder configurations and packaging scripts with verified installers on Windows and Linux.
- Embed ONNX models and asset resources at build time and manage versioning of bundled artifacts.

- U.S. citizenship
- Active Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field
- 5+ years of software development experience with demonstrated depth in at least one area such as scientific computing, numerical simulation, high-performance computing, or data-intensive desktop applications
