Job Description

Anduril Industries’ Strategic Defense team builds software-defined command and control capabilities that help protect the United States and its allies. In this Senior Software Engineer role, you’ll help deliver mission-critical C2 software that can see, decide, and act faster than a human operator could alone, partnering across teams to integrate, test, and deploy real capabilities at the edge of innovation.

This is an onsite position in Tampa, FL and requires an active U.S. Secret security clearance that you can maintain. The salary range is USD 166,000 - 292,000 per year, and the role expects 3+ years of production software experience.

What you’ll do

  • Own software solutions deployed to customers at the edge of innovation and necessity.
  • Write and evolve code to improve robust command and control (C2) products and scale mission capabilities.
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to plan, build, and test functionality of complex systems.
  • Work with end-users to translate needs into features quickly, balancing user experience with engineering constraints.
  • Travel with the team 10 - 30% to build, test, and deploy capabilities in real-world settings.

What you’ll bring

  • Currently possesses and can maintain an active U.S. Secret clearance (or higher).
  • 3-12+ years writing production software in languages such as C++, Rust, Go, or Python.
  • Experience owning a feature or service end-to-end, including design, implementation, deployment, and handling breakages in production.
  • Ability to debug problems in code you did not write and systems you did not design.
  • Comfort making engineering decisions with incomplete requirements, with the willingness to revisit when reality differs.
  • Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-software engineers, including operators, hardware engineers, and customers.

Team and mission context

  • The Strategic Defense team protects the United States and its allies from ballistic, hypersonic, and air-breathing threats.
  • You’ll help build a software-defined command and control layer that accelerates the loop between sensing, decisions, and action.
  • The team spans autonomy, tracking, simulation and wargaming, hardware, systems engineering, and test and evaluation to build and field an accredited fire control system rapidly and at scale.
  • There is also an effort focused on incubating and maturing AI-native offerings for the integrated air and missile defense domain.

Technologies

  • C++
  • Rust
  • Go
  • Python

Compensation and benefits

  • A comprehensive, competitive benefits package (available at little to no cost to employees) covering health, recovery, and support for what comes next.
  • Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers.

About the hiring process

  • Anduril is hiring 10+ experienced coders with active clearance in strategic locations.
  • Candidates should be able to complete live coding interviews without AI assistance.

Preferred qualifications

  • Desire to work on critical software with real-world impact.
  • Exposure to robotics, distributed systems, networking, or real-time systems.
  • Experience with mid and upper tier Air Defense Command and Control (C2) programs.
  • Experience where software touches physical hardware.
  • Experience building software solutions involving significant data processing and analysis.
  • A degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to Asia Pacific.
