Senior Systems/Software Engineer Cloud & On-Premise Software Development

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Senior Systems/Software Engineer to contribute to cloud-native and on-premise security management platform components, spanning Security Director Cloud and Security Director On-Prem. This is a senior role focused on owning software modules end-to-end and delivering reliable, secure functionality across distributed environments.

Role Overview

Security Director Cloud (SD Cloud) is a cloud-native Security Management Platform providing centralized management, monitoring, policy administration, and automation for Juniper SRX Firewalls, vSRX, Secure Edge, and hybrid cloud security environments. It supports consistent security policy management across on-premises, cloud, and remote locations using a single web interface, and serves as an HPE/Juniper management portal for Secure Access Service Edge (SASE). SD Cloud includes unified policy management, Zero Trust security, Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP), threat visibility, analytics, automation, and API-driven integrations.

Security Director (On-Prem) is the on-premises version of the same security management platform. It centrally manages SRX and vSRX firewalls and provides policy lifecycle management, monitoring, configuration, logging, and automation through a web-based interface.

Responsibilities

• Owns responsibility for one or more product modules end-to-end.
• Applies strong code debugging and software design skills at the module level, with the ability to work across multiple modules and features.
• Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships to support the technology roadmap and business value, and creates plans for integration and updates into the architecture.
• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards, providing actionable feedback to improve product quality and reduce failure risk.
• Ensures high-quality software delivery by writing robust unit test cases, improving code coverage through automation, validating new and existing functionality, and documenting and executing functional test cases prior to QA handoff.
• Uses recognized domain expertise to influence technical leadership decisions, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff to set an example for software systems design and development innovation and excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Experience building cloud product(s) with a microservices architecture.
• Extensive knowledge of cloud applications and technologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including strong software debugging ability.
• Experience designing and developing software systems design tools and languages.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-geography, globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones and cultures to deliver complex software solutions.
• Ability to own and maintain multiple software modules.
• Extensive hands-on experience across several listed technology areas, with the ability to adapt quickly and contribute to adjacent domains.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including mastery in English and the local language.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Typically 6 to 10 years of experience.
