Senior Cloud Software Engineer

The Senior Cloud Software Engineer will develop, maintain, and enhance complex BigData Cloud systems for backend processing, analysis, and indexing. This role is located onsite in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse BigData Cloud systems based on documented requirements.
• Contribute across backend processing, analyzing, and indexing activities.
• Apply expertise in cloud computing and the Hadoop ecosystem, including implementation of Java applications, distributed computing, information retrieval (IR), and object-oriented design.
• Work independently or as part of a team to deliver software components.
• Review and test software components to confirm alignment with design requirements and document test outcomes.
• Investigate and resolve software problem reports.
• Use software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provide input to system design components, including hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, and appropriate use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) options instead of new development, along with requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level to individual components.

Requirements

• Eight (8) years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, with two (2) years in programs utilizing BigData Cloud technologies and/or distributed computing.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of relevant cloud software engineering experience on similar BigData systems may be substituted for the degree.
• Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may be substituted for one (1) year of cloud experience.
• Two (2) years of cloud and distributed computing information retrieval (IR) experience.
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table.
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud Distributed File System.
• One (1) year of experience implementing complex MapReduce analytics.
• One (1) year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud distributed coordination frameworks.
• Object-oriented design and programming, Java, and Eclipse or similar development environment, plus Maven and RESTful web services.
• Cloud and distributed computing technologies, including at least one or a combination of YARN, J2EE, MapReduce, Zookeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, concurrent programming, and multi-node implementation and installation.
• Cloud and distributed computing information retrieval technologies, including at least one or a combination of Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, and MongoDB.
• Experience with at least one SIGINT collection discipline area: FORNSAT, CABLE, Terrestrial/Microwave, Overhead, and ELINT.
