Sr. AI Engineer - Forward Deployed Engineer Manager
Job Description
Senior AI Native Engineer who collaborates directly with client teams to design, prototype, and deploy AI and ML solutions on the Databricks platform. This role leads AI services programs and maintains executive relationships, operating in a hybrid capacity based in Irving, Texas, with four days in the office and travel as needed up to 25%–75%.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise grade AI agents, covering data retrieval, orchestration, policy driven routing, tool invocation, evaluation harnesses, and lifecycle observability.
- Architect AI native solutions on the Databricks platform, leveraging Mosaic AI, Vector Search, Model Serving, and MLflow, with Unity Catalog governance, and scale reusable patterns across client engagements.
- Establish Lakehouse data foundations using Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and Unity Catalog to enable production AI across client portfolios.
- Build abstraction layers over AI providers such as Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI to enable seamless integration.
- Utilize containerization, microservices, serverless, and event driven architectures to deliver scalable AI native systems.
- Tailor and deploy agentic applications for industries including finance, healthcare, and retail.
- Lead design workshops, proofs of concept, and hands-on coding sessions with client stakeholders.
- Define metrics to assess agent accuracy, latency, safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Process large distributed datasets on the Databricks Intelligence Platform using Apache Spark.
- Integrate LLM solutions with APIs, model monitoring, and prompt management.
- Manage MLOps and LLMOps pipelines with CI/CD across the ML and LLM lifecycles.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience with the Databricks platform and large-scale big data projects, including Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, Apache Spark, and Unity Catalog, plus API layer development exposing data and AI/ML capabilities to enterprise systems.
- A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in Python, Java, or an equivalent language, with familiarity in evaluation tooling, logging, monitoring, and observability.
- More than a decade of experience deploying and operating production systems with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability tooling; practical MLOps and LLMOps experience covering model training, evaluation harnesses, serving, monitoring, and prompt management.
- At least 1 year designing and shipping agentic AI solutions in production environments.
- Minimum 1 year working with agentic orchestration tools such as LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar; hands-on experience with Databricks AI tooling (Mosaic AI, Vector Search, Model Serving, MLflow) and Unity Catalog governance; track record building RAG and multi-agent systems on the Databricks Intelligence Platform.
- At least 1 year experience with AI platforms including OpenAI, Claude, Vertex AI, and open-source models.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, with a typical requirement of 12 years of work history; if holding an Associate Degree, a minimum of 6 years of experience.
