Sr Data Engineer 1

ComEd offers a role supporting Exelon Utility Analytics, with an onsite position in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. This senior-level position focuses on designing, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions and processes, with opportunities to influence technical work, documentation practices, and continuous improvement across business and IT partners.

What you’ll do

• Perform, document, and assist in planning work activities for projects, sub-projects, or processes, including analyzing requirements, designing, building, and testing IT software solutions in line with IT project management standards.
• Enhance, maintain, or support existing IT products and processes to meet defined service level agreement targets.
• Support the creation of documentation for products and services using best practices, and monitor adherence within the Team/Group to standards defined in the Management Model.
• Maintain and enhance engagement with business and IT partners and other stakeholders.
• Help establish a positive team environment by assisting and training less experienced personnel.
• Proactively expand technical knowledge and business acumen within the data discipline or function.
• Design, implement, and enforce security policies and controls to protect systems and data from unauthorized access.
• Analyze data security systems, inform management of system utilization patterns, and prepare related reports.
• Make informed monitoring decisions, including sample size, level of criticality, and some self-healing opportunities.
• Drive innovation through regular evaluation and application of lessons learned during implementation of future improvements.
• Solve complex problems in collaboration with vendors and other IT professionals.
• Assist with developing workplans for the phase with limited review and resolve unexpected problems with limited assistance.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
• 4-7 years of relevant experience in data warehouse design, business intelligence reporting, and ETL/TLT processing, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience (6-9 years).
• In-depth knowledge of Big Data technologies and their impact on company systems infrastructure.
• Experience implementing enterprise-wide data standards, including business definitions and naming standards.
• Experience participating in user interviews as part of a systems development team to gather information for analysis or technical work.
• Ability to use PowerShell, Ansible, or another appropriate scripting tool to automate tasks, create reports, and troubleshoot issues with existing scripts.
• Strong understanding of how the System Development Life Cycle fits into the overall development lifecycle.
• High proficiency disseminating information to users, management, customers, and others with limited subject knowledge.
• Thorough understanding of effective tool use in complex applications.
• Solid understanding of standard monitoring tool capabilities.

Compensation and benefits

• Annual salary: $104,800.00 to $144,100.00 (based on skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors)
