Job Description
The Hartford is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and scale analytics software and lead data integration initiatives, leveraging AWS cloud and big data technologies. This onsite role in Hartford, CT collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and to guide data-driven innovations that support strategic objectives. A key focus is ensuring that new systems align with disaster recovery plans to sustain uninterrupted operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, high-quality software modules for the next generation analytics suite.
- Prototype impactful innovations to meet evolving business needs using AWS cloud and big data technologies.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to deliver solutions of high complexity with demonstrated proficiency.
- Consult with functional management to analyze short and long-range business requirements and suggest innovations with future impact.
- Collaborate with client management to identify and specify complex business requirements across diverse development platforms, computing environments, software, hardware, and tools.
- Provide highly technical consulting and leadership to implement new uses of information technologies that help business units achieve strategic objectives.
- Review disaster recovery plans to ensure new systems support uninterrupted operation.
- Coordinate activities with cross-functional IT stakeholders including database, operations, telecommunications, and technical support teams.
- Research and evaluate alternative solutions, recommending the most efficient and cost-effective design options.
- Formulate logical statements of business problems, develop and test efficient, cost-effective application solutions, and reuse or integrate existing code as appropriate.
- Prepare charts, tables, and diagrams to aid problem analysis using business, scientific, engineering, and mathematical techniques.
- Analyze existing systems and programming logic to improve efficiency or resolve issues, updating logic and procedures as needed.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for interaction with other cross-functional units and teams.
- Assign personnel to various projects or components and oversee their activities.
- Review, evaluate, and prepare periodic activity and progress reports for the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in a related occupation.
- 5 years of experience in ETL.
- 5 years of experience in Data Integration.
- 5 years of experience in Informatica.
- 5 years of experience in IDMC.
- 2 years of experience in Cloud (AWS) Technologies.
- 2 years of experience in Oracle.
- 2 years of experience in SQL.
- 2 years of experience in Python.
- 2 years of experience in PySpark.
- 2 years of experience in Unix/Linux Shell scripting.
- 2 years of experience in Autosys scheduling tool.
- 2 years of experience in version control tools.
- 2 years of experience in Data warehouse applications.

- 2 years of experience in Big Data Distributed Processing (HDFS, Hive, Spark).

Compensation
- Salary Range: $147,430.00 to $170,040
- The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market.
- Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role.
