Job Description
Senior Data Engineer role supporting federal data modernization and analytics needs in a hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
- Build, optimize, and manage scalable data platforms, including data models, data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse environments (example: Databricks)
- Ingest, clean, validate, transform, and integrate large datasets from APIs, relational databases, flat files, and unstructured data
- Create data schemas and models that support analytics, reporting, and data science workflows
- Implement data quality, metadata management, governance, and security controls for trustworthy data
- Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to deploy and manage data solutions within Microsoft Azure
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance and reliability using logging, alerting, and CI/CD practices
- Work with data scientists and analysts to evolve data structures for changing analytical needs
- Document architecture, pipeline logic, data flows, and procedures to support maintainability
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles
- 6+ years hands-on experience with Python and SQL, including scalable ETL/ELT pipeline development
- 2+ years experience with cloud data ecosystems such as Azure Data Factory
- 1+ years experience with modern data processing and lakehouse technologies such as Databricks
- Strong understanding of data integration across diverse sources and formats
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and architecture
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance principles
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal government or regulated environments
- Prior experience with CDC data environments
- Cloud or data engineering certifications, such as Microsoft Azure certifications

Compensation
- Salary range: $150,000 - $165,000 per year
- Final compensation based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance
