Telos Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and operate Telos ID enrollment technology used across desktop, web, backend, and cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will support end-to-end development for identity-document processing, biometric capture, payments, enrollment-station hardware integrations, and AWS-based services that keep the platform running reliably.
This is an onsite position in Ashburn, VA, with a salary range of $110,000 to $150,000 per year. Telos also expects candidates to have 7+ years of professional software engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and support production software using TypeScript, Vue 3, Quasar, Pinia, Electron, Node.js, and Fastify.
- Develop features for the Windows desktop enrollment application, including integrations with identity, document scanning, biometric, and payment hardware.
- Build and maintain web-based enrollment features and backend API services deployed on AWS.
- Create and maintain unit and end-to-end tests using Vitest, Jest, and Playwright.
- Contribute to GitLab CI/CD pipelines, build processes, desktop packaging, and release workflows.
- Support deployments running on AWS and Kubernetes, with infrastructure managed through Pulumi.
- Diagnose production issues spanning application, device, network, and infrastructure layers.
- Collaborate with product, operations, security, QA, government-program stakeholders, and external hardware vendors.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.
- Document features, integration behavior, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 7+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production software.
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript experience, including Vue 3 and a state management library.
- Experience delivering modern web applications and Node.js services.
- Experience with desktop software and Electron, plus hardware integrations or comparable systems-level work.
- Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (examples provided: Pulumi, Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation).
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and production releases.
- Ability to understand complex business workflows and contribute technically across the platform.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a security-sensitive, regulated, or government-program environment.
- Willingness to obtain a U.S. government security clearance (background check required).
