Sr. Product Development Engineer - Product Operations
Job Description
Lead product development and production launch efforts for datacenter server and rack systems, partnering across engineering and manufacturing to meet design, quality, and schedule targets.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering Design, Materials, Rack/Server Systems Program Management, and related stakeholders across the full product development lifecycle.
- Review design specifications, CAD drawings, and engineering documentation to verify alignment with design criteria, industry standards, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to optimize products for efficient, high-quality production.
- Create and maintain project schedules and implementation readiness timelines to support on-time new product introductions.
- Provide regular project status and readiness milestone updates to customer program management teams and internal stakeholders.
- Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) by facilitating cross-functional problem-solving with Design, Manufacturing, Test, and Quality Engineering teams.
- Identify and resolve design or production issues proactively to support smooth product launch and ramp-up.
- Run regular development review meetings to improve technical alignment and coordinate design changes; provide feedback to ensure design feasibility with manufacturing processes and capabilities.
- Oversee first article builds and First Article Inspections (FAI) for new products; document FAI requirements, analyze initial results, and implement corrective improvements to confirm readiness.
- Coordinate engineering rework and change orders during the shift to volume production, managing Engineering Change Order (ECO) workflows to incorporate updates while minimizing schedule impact.
- Validate and approve production assembly instructions, including labeling and work instructions, ensuring clarity and accuracy for manufacturing teams; confirm processes are documented and optimized for quality and efficiency.
- Confirm final products meet customer specifications and quality standards by partnering with quality and production teams to ensure correct builds and on-time delivery for high-volume production ramp.

- Hands-on experience guiding products from concept through development and production.
- Knowledge of physical design (PD) methodologies for hardware or systems.
- Familiarity with server architectures or rack-level hardware systems and their components.
- Ability to conduct DFM reviews and optimize designs for efficient manufacturing.
- Experience managing ECO processes and implementing design updates in a production environment.
- Understanding of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Strong documentation skills, including creating and maintaining comprehensive engineering documentation and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Proven ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or factory environment, especially in a fast-paced, dynamic NPI setting, with a track record of successfully launching new hardware products.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including leading meetings, coordinating across multiple teams, and driving projects to timely completion.
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering) preferred.
- This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
