Systems Engineer

At M1 Technology, a Systems Engineer will oversee the applications infrastructure across networks, ensuring security compliance and supporting mission-critical operations. This role sits at the crossroads of software development and mission support, requiring onsite work in Tysons, VA and participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to maintain high availability.
• Implement and maintain robust security measures, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
• Develop custom scripts to automate tasks and improve system efficiency.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across hardware, software, and network components.
• Collaborate with developers, management, and other departments to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for system architecture, procedures, and support.
• Research and assess emerging technologies for potential upgrades or new implementations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in system engineering, testing, or DevOps roles.
• Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix, Git, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar).
• Familiarity with Agile development practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
