Systems Engineer
Job Description
Contract position for a Systems Engineer in Test Equipment Engineering onsite in Tucson, AZ, supporting DoD programs with test system design, development, and validation; active Secret clearance is required.
Responsibilities
- Establish test requirements, strategies, and architectures across the product lifecycle
- Collaborate with cross functional engineering teams to align test environment capabilities
- Design and support test systems including models, simulations, test beds, and prototypes
- Lead or contribute to hardware integration, manufacturing testing, and transition to production
- Perform and support verification and validation of hardware using established methodologies and tools
- Assess technology risks and trade-offs in system design to inform program decisions
- Support DoD programs with direct customer interaction
- Identify and define capital investments needed for test infrastructure
- Promote product affordability through cost-conscious design, built in test capabilities, and lifecycle optimization
- Senior levels only: mentor engineers and lead Integrated Product Teams on development programs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- Active Secret Clearance required to be considered
- Entry level: 2+ years relevant experience or Master’s in STEM
- Mid level: 4+ years relevant experience or Master’s with 2+ years
- Senior/Principal: demonstrated advanced experience including leadership or IPT responsibilities
- Experience in test requirements development and decomposition
- Experience with test planning, methodologies, and documentation
- Integration, verification, and validation (IV&V)
- Embedded and functional test systems
- Experience across multiple phases of testing (development, environmental, qualification, production, manufacturing)
- Knowledge of systems engineering artifacts such as block diagrams, use cases, sequence diagrams, and flow diagrams
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS
