Onsite in Garland, TX, this role supports reliable PCBA delivery by combining hardware validation, testing, and verification. You will help ensure printed circuit board assemblies meet required performance and compliance through structured validation planning, hands-on test execution, and clear root cause analysis. STARTECX Inc. also offers a solid benefits package including 401(k) matching, health, dental, and vision insurance, plus paid time off.
Responsibilities
- Develop validation plans for PCBAs, including testing protocols for electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance.
- Execute hardware testing using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal analyzers to confirm circuit functionality.
- Perform root cause analysis on hardware failures or anomalies, identify whether issues trace back to design or manufacturing, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with design engineers to review schematics, PCB layouts, and system specifications, including compliance with electrical standards such as NEC and NFPA 70.
- Use CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or MicroStation to review and update PCB layouts and mechanical enclosures.
- Carry out firmware validation alongside hardware testing using C++, Python, Perl, or SystemVerilog.
- Support manufacturing by reviewing PCB fabrication and assembly practices, including surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, and assembly procedures for quality control.
- Verify system development using simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and CAD-based simulation environments.
- Lead scheduling efforts to keep validation milestones on track while coordinating cross-disciplinary teams.
- Create automation scripts to streamline testing workflows and improve efficiency in engineering test environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field (advanced degrees preferred).
- Proven experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role focused on electronics design and validation.
- Extensive knowledge of PCB design principles, schematic capture, electrical system design, and circuit analysis.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA development, SystemVerilog, firmware programming in C++ and Python, and debugging techniques.
- CAD proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or MicroStation for electrical and mechanical integration.
- Familiarity with signal processing and control systems used in complex electronic systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical building codes including NEC and safety standard compliance such as NFPA 70.
- Experience with PLCs and ARM-based microcontrollers including Arduino or ARM Cortex platforms.
- Experience using simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and verification.
- Troubleshooting experience using oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, vision inspection systems, and other diagnostic tools.
- Excellent project management skills, including task prioritization while meeting project schedules.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and document validation procedures.
