Technical Security Engineer

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Technical Security Engineer in Columbia, Maryland to strengthen systems and network security for national security programs. In this onsite role, you will design, implement, and integrate security controls across enterprise cross-domain platforms to protect critical infrastructure and mission data for government clients.

Responsibilities

• Establish productive relationships with teams across the organization and translate security concepts for diverse audiences, including senior management.
• Deploy infrastructure and cybersecurity controls to enhance detection, vulnerability management, and event correlation across large enterprises.
• Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments across network, system, and application domains.
• Utilize big data analytics alongside traditional security events to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise, collaborating with the team to resolve issues.
• Recommend secure solutions and contribute to architecture improvements for an enterprise cross-domain platform serving multiple customers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in information system security management, including monitoring, auditing, risk analysis, and ensuring secure operations.
• Experience in secure systems administration, including system hardening, patching, logging, and configuration management.
• Experience authoring or editing technical security documentation and developing accreditation body of evidence packages.
• Experience leading or supporting Risk Management Framework processes through ATO or ATO renewal and coordinating with ISSMs, ISSOs, assessors, and authorizing officials.
• Knowledge of network fundamentals such as TCP/IP, firewalls, VLANs, routing, and VPNs.
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, and CNSSI 1253.
• Ability to independently review technical system architectures and identify security gaps.
• Ability to map 800-171 and CMMC practices to technical implementations.
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology, and 5+ years of related security engineering or systems/network administration experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 99,000 to 225,000 per year.

Work model

This position is onsite. Work will primarily be performed at a Booz Allen facility or a customer facility, with collaboration required with colleagues and clients as needed by the role.

Clearance

TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required; applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
