Telecom Project Engineer
Job Description
This Telecom Project Engineer role is based onsite in Tallahassee, FL with AtkinsRéalis, supporting client-site engineering activities for professionals with 1 to 4 years of experience in Electrical, Communications, or Computer Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Designs and develops scopes of work, plans, and drawings. Assignments may include microwave communications networks, fiber optic systems, IP/MPLS networking, electrical power systems, equipment shelters, HVACs, lightning protection systems and grounding, emergency generators, DC power systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electronic entry systems, video surveillance systems, network management systems.
- Organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work which have a well-defined scope.
- Outlines and prepares relatively straightforward reports of sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional.
- Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction procedures under the guidance of a more experienced professional, and evaluates the results from quality control testing.
- Researches feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
- Prepares preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates.
- Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
- Performs field observations of construction and system integration activities where appropriate.
- Performs field inspections of existing systems to assess condition.
- Prepare and make presentations to staff and client.
- Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
Requirements
- E.I. or EIT is required. Professional Engineer is desired.
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills required.
- Technical drawing (CAD, MicroStation, Visio or equivalent) skills required.
- Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.

Additional Information
Expected compensation range is between $72,400 - $135,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
