Validation and Tools Engineer - Mobile Ecosystem
Job Description
Cinder Staffing is hiring a Validation and Tools Engineer to support a mobile app ecosystem where performance and safety traction-based systems depend on reliable software and tight SW/HW integration. This hybrid role in Hillsboro, OR focuses on building test strategies and automation frameworks that scale across vendor OS versions and device variants.
You will help shape validation approaches from planning through execution, including regression automation, SIL/HIL test environments, and support for release processes. The role also requires strong cross-functional collaboration with firmware, hardware, and project teams to keep QA requirements aligned with product goals and deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed test strategies and processes to ensure coverage for performance and safety traction-based systems, working closely with firmware, hardware, and project management teams to align QA requirements with product goals and deliverables.
- Design and implement a test automation framework that supports continuous integration and testing pipelines.
- Oversee the design and execution of automated regression testing.
- Manage SIL and HIL test environments, playing a critical role in SW/HW integration.
- Manage and oversee the full SW release process, identifying fixes and resolutions before deployment.
- Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
- Initiate improvements to QA metrics and processes.
- Report QA results, issues, and risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine hardware testing needs and support validation efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant fields.
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and embedded software or firmware development, preferably within vertically integrated consumer products.
- Technical domain expertise in validation of a mobile app ecosystem across vendor OS versions and device variants, covering functionality, reliability, compatibility, and UI/UX flows, with expected knowledge of backend connectivity from these devices.
- Experience with embedded systems and real-time software testing, preferably in automotive or traction systems.
- Experience with C/C++, Python, and scripting for test automation.
- Experience with CI/CD automation workflows, including Jenkins or similar tools.
- Familiarity with UDS or XCP protocols.
- Expertise in various protocols and physical layers including I2C, SPI, CAN, CAN-FD, USB-PD, and similar technologies.
- Familiarity with real-time operating system platforms, ideally for functional-safety critical applications.
- Familiarity with hardware and software architecture selection, including cost and performance tradeoffs such as OS and MCU selection.
- Passion for and demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional hardware and software teams.
