Job Description

Structures & Interiors Engineer provides specialized aircraft powerplant and APU engineering support for GoJet Airlines, including day-to-day technical monitoring and after-hours AOG coverage. The role supports troubleshooting, reliability, and maintenance planning through engineering documentation, analysis, and coordinated fleet compliance activities.

Experience and Education

Minimum experience: 3 years
Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Core Responsibilities

Adhere to the Professional Standards as outlined in GMM1 0-1.2.
Promote safety as the top priority in all aircraft and personnel activities.
Provide leadership and enforce compliance with FAA, EPA, OSHA, and company policies, procedures, manuals, and regulatory requirements.
Generate Powerplant/APU Engineering Orders (EOs) to support compliance with Airworthiness Directives (ADs), service bulletins, alterations, repairs, and manufacturer approved parts; coordinate required parts and tooling.
Interface with OEM engine, APU, and component manufacturers regarding reliability, performance, and product improvements.
Review powerplant/APU manufacturer service information (SBs, SLs, etc.) to assess applicability and impact to the GoJet fleet.
Provide 24/7 engineering support to Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, and Heavy Check maintenance for troubleshooting powerplant and APU issues.
Oversee the Operator’s third-party administration of the Engine Condition Trend Monitoring (ECTM) Program, including:
- Review and analyze trend reports with OEM technical specialists.
- Issue ECTM Alert Notices derived from trend analysis, specifying troubleshooting and corrective actions.
- Review engine oil consumption data.
- Coordinate with Short-Term and Intermediate Planning to ensure engines are removed in accordance with degradation limits.
Provide oversight and coordination for significant powerplant events such as engine changes and on-wing repairs, including:
- Develop engine work scopes and coordinate with vendors to ensure compliance.
- Obtain required financial approvals.
- Approve work scopes prior to shipment to approved vendor facilities.
Interact with Maintenance Programs & Planning to support timely revision and implementation of powerplant- and APU-related maintenance program changes.
Provide technical input to Maintenance Planning to support scheduled powerplant and APU inspections, shop visits, and life-limited part replacements in accordance with maintenance program criteria.
Coordinate powerplant and APU issues with other operational departments (e.g., Flight Operations, Ground Operations).
Support aircraft acquisition and lease redelivery activities related to powerplant and APU technical and financial requirements.
Ensure lease engines meet company standards as defined in CAMP and GMM.
Maintain the APR Tracking Log for CF-34 engines in accordance with GMM1 7-11.2.1.
Develop changes to MX-043 documents for presentation to the Maintenance Review Board and coordinate IT updates upon approval.
Create and maintain drawings within the Technical Engineering Drawing System.
Review and/or develop Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) as required.
Generate Fleet Compliance Documents (FCDs) to support accomplishment of fleet-wide inspections.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Technical Engineering.

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizen or have the legal right to accept employment in the United States.
Valid driver’s license and eligibility to obtain a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in powerplant and/or APU engineering or maintenance within a Part 121 air carrier (regional or mainline).
Ability to analyze Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer service information.
Very competent oral and written communication skills, with ability to read and write fluently in English.
Basic mathematical competency.
Ability to travel to annual MHIRJ and GE manufacturer technical conferences.
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

GE CF34-8C5 series powerplant and APU knowledge/experience on CRJ aircraft (experience on other aircraft types may be considered).
Demonstrated ability to prepare technical documents, reports, and briefing materials.
Knowledge of FAA regulations.
Ability to prioritize work and coordinate with various groups.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Primarily office-based work, with frequent visits to hangar and flight line environments.
May require work in areas with moderate noise levels, moving aircraft, and operational equipment.
Occasional travel to support maintenance bases, vendor facilities, and manufacturer technical conferences.
Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during inspections or meetings.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.

Job Description

The Principal Systems Engineer is a 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity located in Bridgeton, MO with hybrid work options. The role directs systems engineering for cargo loader fleets to sustain OSS&E baselines and Air Force readiness, and requires an active DOW Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

This position is based at the Bridgeton, MO facility with the choice of in-person or hybrid work arrangements.
Apply disciplined systems engineering to preserve the Government technical baseline, proactively identify and resolve field and overhaul line issues, and ensure rebuild actions and upgrades maintain Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness and fleet readiness.
Develop and maintain essential engineering plans and rigorous change control; lead and participate in structured reviews that drive corrective actions, continuous improvement, and keep technical data and configuration records aligned with Air Force requirements for field sustainment and depot rebuilds.
Serve as a visible technical leader across engineering, production, and Government stakeholders, translating data and field feedback into actions that enhance readiness, reliability, and mission capability for cargo loaders enabling the Air Force to deliver people and equipment anywhere, anytime.
Perform systems engineering to sustain OSS&E baselines for cargo loader fleets.
Support field and depot level technical sustainment activities and travel as required to execute program tasks.
Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve field sustainment and depot overhaul line issues or material deficiencies affecting cost, schedule, or performance.
Maintain and improve the Systems Engineering Plan to govern technical activity execution.
Maintain and execute the Configuration Management Plan, ensuring configuration definitions remain accurate for fielded and depot rebuilt assets.
Develop and staff Engineering Change Proposals and Contract Change Proposals, supporting coordination and approvals through the configuration control board.
Keep system-level baselines and specifications current as requirements evolve.
Maintain system safety program plans and update safety assessments when changes occur.
Collaborate with depot operations to implement continuous improvements that reduce labor hours while preserving performance baselines.
Participate in recurring System Review Board and technical interchange meetings, delivering clear visuals and technically accurate status communications.
Engage in Earned Value Management program baselining and variance activities.
Develop and maintain data analysis tools as needed to support performance assessment and status accounting.
Support and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization; attend relevant engineering, customer, or business meetings.
Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and supporting personnel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Eight-plus years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and substantial experience across multiple engineering disciplines.
Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and oral.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Lists, Planner, Project, OneNote, SharePoint, Teams).
Experience with Corel MindManager, Windchill Risk and Reliability, and DOORS requirements management software preferred.
Ability to travel occasionally within CONUS (~25%).
Active DOW Secret Clearance.
