EvoLogic, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer to help design electrical control panels and develop control systems from early concept through project completion. This onsite role in Dubuque, IA brings together PLC and HMI development, panel design documentation, troubleshooting, and occasional commissioning support with customers, engineering teams, and vendors.
Role Overview
In this position, you will translate customer requirements into electrical control system designs, produce the documentation needed for build and commissioning, and support testing and startup when issues arise. Work spans the full lifecycle, including collaboration from project kickoff through commissioning and maintaining current project documentation with change management.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical control systems and panel layouts to meet customer requirements and applicable codes and standards (including UL508A and NEC).
- Develop PLC code and create HMI graphics.
- Select and specify control components such as PLCs, HMIs, relays, sensors, and drives.
- Produce accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD LT.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams from project kickoff through commissioning.
- Support procurement and manufacturing using technical documentation and guidance.
- Create Control Narrative and Sequence of Operation documents.
- Troubleshoot control systems during panel testing, installation, and startup.
- Provide occasional on-site support for commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation and perform change management throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design principles and control panel standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD LT).
- Familiarity with PLC programming and HMI development (examples include Allen-Bradley, Emerson, and Schneider).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Compensation
USD 75,000 - 115,000 per year.
