Job Description

Analytical Instrumentation Service Engineer position in East Lyme, CT, focusing on servicing and maintaining HPLC, GC, and related analytical instrumentation while supporting customers.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibrations to ensure equipment runs efficiently and meets manufacturers specifications.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fluidic, vacuum, and optical system issues.
Troubleshoot chromatography problems such as pressure fluctuations, baseline noise, peak resolution challenges, or detector errors.
Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding service activities.
Provide maintenance and support for multiple vendor instruments and software systems.
Ensure adherence to quality system procedures and Health and Safety standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field preferred.
2 to 5 years of experience servicing or operating analytical laboratory instrumentation in the listed categories.
Strong understanding of analytical instrumentation, electronics, fluidics, and vacuum systems.
Previous customer service or direct client interaction experience is highly preferred.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
Familiarity with preventative maintenance procedures for chromatography systems and related areas.
Excellent attention to detail and data integrity; strong documentation and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Effective communication with customers, technicians, and management.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Service Manager and Senior Service Engineer to support a growing portfolio of refurbished lab equipment and field-service activities.
