Takumi Stamping Inc offers a robust on-site opportunity in Fairfield, OH for a Controls Engineer. You will join the Mass Production Engineering Department in a high-volume automotive stamping and resistance welding environment, performing hands-on maintenance and programming, troubleshooting, and improvements to PLC driven automation, including vision systems, HMIs, and bolt verification.
Responsibilities
- Design, adjust, and debug PLC ladder logic to support manufacturing processes
- Perform hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Maintain stamping presses, resistance welders, and automated welding and assembly lines
- Configure and update HMIs on Keyence and Mitsubishi platforms for operators and maintenance
- Implement vision-based and sensor-based error proofing to ensure correct assembly
- Diagnose PLCs, I/O, VFDs, servo motors, sensors, and safety circuits
- Support new equipment launches, automation upgrades, and line modifications
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and quality teams for root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Improve equipment reliability, quality, safety, and overall OEE
- Keep PLC programs, HMI files, vision programs, backups, and controls documentation up to date
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
- Strong industrial maintenance background with hands-on troubleshooting skills
- Proven ability to program and diagnose PLC ladder logic
- Experience supporting resistance welding equipment
- Hands-on experience with Keyence vision systems
- Experience supporting Shinko bolt checkers or fastener verification systems
- Familiarity with Keyence and Mitsubishi HMIs
- Ability to read electrical schematics and prints
- Experience in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment
