Port Townsend Paper Company is seeking a Process Control Engineer to join the on-site team in Port Townsend, Washington. Reporting to the Process Control Manager, the role centers on designing, implementing, and maintaining the essential equipment and information networks that monitor and regulate plant processes, with a focus on safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate mill processes to craft control strategies and standards that enhance safety, efficiency, and profitability.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure process operations are reliable and robust.
- Develop new standards that reflect evolving control system architectures.
- Ensure compliance with strategies and standards across the information and control system platform, including DCS, PLC, data acquisition, and operations technology networks.
- Act as project manager for assigned initiatives, delivering within design, cost, and schedule expectations set by the Process Control Manager.
- Provide control system support and technical expertise for large capital projects, process evaluations, and project modifications.
- Assist process technology and production teams in developing and programming DCS/PLC control sequences for all system-controlled processes.
- Lead department projects related to re-instrumentation and DCS/PLC upgrades.
Requirements
- Three years of process control engineering experience in paper mill operations, or an advanced engineering degree with manufacturing facility exposure.
- Solid knowledge of process control principles and control system architecture.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining control systems.
- Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Experience with data acquisition and information systems tied to process control.
- Proven ability to support operations on a day-to-day basis.

- Full-time, exempt position
- Salary range: $120,000 to $150,000 DOE
- 3 weeks of paid vacation or more, depending on tenure
