This role is a hands-on Technical Support Engineer focused on electrical and control systems for warehouse automation, delivering hotline support across North America with travel and cross-functional collaboration. The position is based onsite in Somerset, NJ, with an hourly rate of USD 38 to 45.
Responsibilities
- Learn and comprehend electrical and control aspects of installed systems.
- Troubleshoot electro-mechanical components and systems, including PLC and PC communications.
- Interpret system applications and translate them into operational and functional requirements.
- Communicate effectively with customers and provide technical guidance to aid issue resolution.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate resolution actions with engineering, customer support and other personnel to resolve issues.
- Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and related documentation.
- Instruct and direct technicians in servicing and repairing equipment.
- Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
- May supervise workers during testing, tuning and adjustment to optimize performance.
- Understand electrical drawings and specifications as they relate to machine control programming.
- Maintain strong customer communication throughout issue resolution.
- Develop and implement training strategies, skills matrices, response protocols and reporting standards.
- Utilize best practices from the European hotline and technical groups.
- Apply stage gate processes to hotline handling and new system deployments.
- Follow ServiceNow best practices as defined by the Technical Team Leader.
- May be assigned to special projects or other duties as determined by management to meet company needs.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, technical studies, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure with a sense of urgency and thoroughness.

- Proficient with Windows, MS Word, Excel and remote capabilities.
- Solid understanding of industrial power, electrical and control circuits and devices.
- Good networking knowledge.
- Experience in PLC programming with focus on SCO Unix, Linux, Siemens and Allen-Bradley based systems.
- Ability to interpret schematics, diagrams and other documentation.
- Knowledge of C++ and Siemens S7 is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a quick learner.
- Team player with a collaborative approach.
- Proficient with computer-based tools for communication, troubleshooting and programming.
- Ability to rapidly acquire programming skills for machine control platforms.
- Capable of remote work when needed while operating independently.
