Bloomberg's Business Intelligence team in New York City is seeking a Senior Data Management Professional to anchor analytics with a solid data foundation. This onsite role, offering a salary range of USD 110,000 to 190,000 per year, focuses on building and evolving Foundational Reporting Datasets, translating complex financial data into stable analytical schemas, and enabling self-service insights across the reporting platform.

- Write and optimize SQL to cleanse, shape, and model noisy real-world data into performant, reusable datasets
- Create modular, version-controlled SQL and PySpark, implementing CI/CD processes and automated data testing to ensure pipeline reliability
- Design storage layouts, partitioning strategies, and high-concurrency serving patterns (such as One Big Table) for BI consumers
- Implement robust source validation, data profiling, and observability checks to foster trust in the data
- Balance correctness, scope, performance, and documentation, and reason about data semantics and grain
- Collaborate with domain experts and stakeholders to understand how data is produced, interpreted, and used
- Develop domain intuition over time by learning why data behaves as it does, not solely how itβs structured
- Represent data accurately in cross-functional discussions
- Identify analytical tasks that merit formalization into reusable data products
- Help delineate foundational datasets from decision-specific, reusable data products
- Partner with Product Managers to assess roadmap feasibility and collaborate with Software Engineers to influence upstream tooling and architecture
- Collaborate with engineers on performance, tooling, and modeling decisions while focusing on the data layer
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a BI analyst, analytics engineer, or similar data-focused role
- Proven ability to transform messy, ambiguous data into trusted analytical assets
- Comfort operating under ambiguity and delivering incremental improvements
