Leviton Manufacturing is seeking an Associate Engineer, Electrical to design, develop, and test electrical components, equipment, and systems. This onsite role in Melville, NY combines hands-on engineering work with documentation and compliance duties to support a range of commercial, industrial, and residential applications.
Responsibilities
- Consult with the engineering team, customers, and stakeholders to review current projects and explore new product opportunities.
- Manage a mix of tasks including requirements capture, circuit simulations, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and software maintenance.
- Design, implement, maintain, and enhance electrical components, equipment, products, machinery, and systems.
- Develop and integrate new technologies into communications components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and residential markets within the business unit scope.
- Select or design and contribute to assembling test rigs and control apparatus, and define methods and conditions for electrical testing to verify conformance with product specifications.
- Coordinate manufacturing, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing to ensure adherence to specifications, codes, and requirements.
- Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment.
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and related tools to perform engineering tasks.
- Inspect installations and monitor operations to confirm conformance with design and equipment specs and safety standards.
- Develop and maintain engineering design and testing documentation aligned with ISO standards to support the unit’s quality system.
- Maintain and upgrade the development engineering test laboratory as needed to support new product designs and test procedures.
- Collaborate with Applications Engineering to develop applications of new communications cabling devices across commercial, residential, and industrial uses.
Requirements
- Fundamental understanding of electrical and electronic concepts, including analog and digital design.
- Familiarity with discrete semiconductors and RF theory.
- Hands-on experience with circuit simulation, RF design, connector design, analog and digital design, microcontrollers, and firmware programming in C++, Visual Basic; production test fixture design and support; and measurement tools such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and schematic capture; embedded design knowledge.
- Basic familiarity with regulatory compliance and validation testing methods.
- Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science & Engineering.
