Technical Support Engineer role at Booz Allen Hamilton in Fayetteville, NC (onsite), supporting military training exercises through simulator and modeling network operations. Youβll help keep live and virtual training environments running reliably, while contributing to configuration management, preventative maintenance, and continuous system improvements on an Agile Scrum team.
Compensation: $55,300 - $126,000 per year. Education requirement: HS diploma or GED.
What you will work on
Maintain and execute a network of simulators and modeling capabilities that provide rehearsal and exercise capabilities for various units. You will manage and operate the environment that supports large-scale training exercises, including day-to-day operational checks for local air and ground simulation systems and multiple outstation systems.
- Conduct day-to-day operational checks and preventative maintenance for simulators and associated simulator systems
- Perform Tier 1-3 troubleshooting during operations
- Maintain system compliance by managing an Authority to Operate (ATO) and improving system design and architecture
- Support live, virtual, and constructive training environments
- Develop and apply configuration management processes so geographically separated systems stay updated to meet current training requirements
- Identify and track deficiencies to improve system functionality
Engineering and delivery responsibilities
- Complete hardware installs and lifecycle management
- Support software releases and deployment, including new features and innovation
- Build and install new simulators and networks
- Communicate daily as part of an Agile Scrum team
Required qualifications
- Experience working on complex networked distributed systems
- Experience with Microsoft Windows and Linux
- Experience supporting and collaborating with DoD operational personnel
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with basic network and operating systems
- Ability to create technical documentation
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- TS/SCI clearance
- Security+ Certification
- HS diploma or GED
Nice to have
- Experience supporting distributed mission operations training
- Experience with programming or scripting languages
- Experience with firewalls
- Experience with ACAS
- Experience implementing STIGS
- Knowledge of Image Generator (IG) and Constructive Force Generator (CGF) programs such as MACE and VRSG

Work model
Onsite: work will primarily be performed full-time at a customer facility. Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings. There may still be occasions when you are required to work in person at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
