JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Software Engineer III to join Global Banking and Payments Technology in Chicago as a BI Developer and Data Analyst. The role centers on maintaining Alteryx workflows, developing and sustaining Tableau dashboards, and advancing data-visualization capabilities, all within an Agile framework that emphasizes backlog refinement and UI/UX standardization. This onsite position offers a salary range of USD 114,000 to USD 155,000 per year and sits in Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the current Alteryx workflows
- Create new Tableau dashboards and update existing ones
- Support backlog refinement and help prioritize incoming requests
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect data, analyze processes, and propose improvements that strengthen controls
- Design and build workflows that consume and publish data via API endpoints
- Conduct thorough testing of dashboards for functionality, data integrity, and performance
- Proactively detect hidden data issues and patterns, using insights to enhance code quality and system architecture
- Champion UI/UX standardization across all visualizations
- Utilize enterprise-approved AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, accelerate delivery, and boost productivity on complex deliverables, while validating outputs through peer reviews, automated testing, and secure coding practices; share learnings and reusable patterns with the team
- Leverage SDLC tools, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to amplify the value of automation efforts
- Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and participate in events exploring new and emerging technologies
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts with 3+ years of applied experience
- Strong experience with data wrangling tools, particularly Alteryx
- Experience integrating Python within Alteryx workflows
- Solid data warehouse knowledge, including writing complex SQL queries with multiple joins to automate or manipulate extracts in Alteryx/macros
- Proven ability to develop medium to complex Tableau dashboards
- Good understanding of data warehousing concepts with experience in relational and dimensional modeling
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to critically evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Awareness of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations and secure handling of inputs/outputs; ability to guide peers on safe usage within team practices
