Responsibilities
- Operate with familiarity of lab and field equipment used to evaluate soil conditions and properties
- Conduct geotechnical field investigations and construction inspections
- Prepare detailed daily site inspection reports documenting field operations
- Perform technical research and computer-based analyses to support geotechnical evaluations, calculate documents, and produce detailed engineering reports; analyze geotechnical samples and perform soil field testing
- Draft technical reports and memos, present engineering recommendations and solutions
- Maintain strong relationships with clients
- Oversee budgets for field inspections and design activities
- Apply field testing and data collection methods effectively
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, technicians, permit specialists, planners, CAD and graphics staff, architects, construction managers, and other disciplines
- Supervise field personnel and review their field documents and reports
- Delegate tasks efficiently within the team
- Coordinate field personnel logistics
- Prepare and review proposals, including subcontractor pricing
- Procure subcontractors to support geotechnical investigations and design work
- Review drawings and calculation packages for accuracy
- Perform QA/QC on design work
- Approve time and expense sheets for field staff
- Assist with invoicing tasks as needed
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or related engineering field
- Engineer-In-Training status, working toward Professional Engineer licensure (P.E.)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Proficiency with gINT geotechnical software
- Experience with LRFD/ASD design and complex analysis tools such as RISA, DeepXcav, and AllPile
- Experience analyzing below grade walls, retaining structures, and foundations
- Experience conducting geotechnical and construction special inspections
- Strong communication skills with managers, clients, and contractors
- Excellent written and verbal communication and solid design capabilities
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Successful completion of a background check
