Structural Engineer-Diver
Job Description
KPFF's Special Projects Division seeks a Structural Engineer-Diver to contribute to marine and port infrastructure projects and underwater inspections. Based in Tacoma, Washington with a hybrid work arrangement, this role blends structural engineering with field diving responsibilities and offers opportunities to grow in design and project management skills. The position carries a salary range of USD 90,000 - 160,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Engage in a diverse mix of projects including port developments, marine engineering works, ferry terminals, shipyards, fish and wildlife facilities, naval facilities, small boat marinas, municipal structures, floating platforms, and design-build infrastructure.
- Advance design work while developing project management capabilities.
- Deliver exceptional service and clear communication to clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- EIT certification is required.
- Minimum of two years' experience performing underwater and topside inspections of marine infrastructure.
- Comfort operating small watercraft.
- Active ADCI certification card.
- Ability to conduct dives using SCUBA and surface-supplied air.
- Willingness to travel.
- Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certifications.
- Current or ability to pass an ADCI compliant dive physical.
- Experience in design of concrete, steel, and timber structures.
- Knowledge of ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS standards.
