AI Machine Learning Engineer Sr.

The role centers on advancing AI driven capabilities for the Cogniverse simulation product, delivering end-to-end development from concept through production with hands-on exposure to generative AI and reinforcement learning. Located in Fort Worth, TX on a hybrid arrangement, this senior AI/ML engineering role blends research, prototyping, and production deployment in a part-time capacity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance AI agents and tooling to support the Cogniverse simulation platform.
• Engage across the full software and system development lifecycle, including requirements generation, design, implementation, testing, and integration.
• Execute activities ranging from low TRL research and proof of concepts to rapid prototyping and transition to production.
• Leverage the latest AI paradigms in generative AI and reinforcement learning to create high fidelity training and simulation environments for diverse applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, other Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college, or equivalent experience.
• Five years of professional experience, or three years with a related master’s degree.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python and modern C++.
• Experience in system software engineering, deploying AI-first systems, AI/ML development, data curation and data pipelines, and building software for mission systems, mission management, or battle management in the DoD domain.
• US Citizenship is required due to clearance eligibility.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Ability to Work Remotely

Part-time remote telework is available. The selected candidate will work part of their schedule remotely and part at a Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules

Lockheed Martin offers a range of alternative schedules to enhance flexibility. Schedules may span a standard 40 hours across five days or be condensed to provide additional time away from the office, in addition to paid time off benefits.

Schedule for This Position

4x10 hour days with three days off per week.

Pay Rate

The annual base salary range is USD 108,800 to USD 216,890. Note that regional adjustments may apply and the final figure depends on location and other factors.
