Analytics Engineer
Job Description
Clair is hiring an Analytics Engineer to build and maintain data pipelines and trustworthy analytic datasets. In this hybrid role based in New York, you will partner with stakeholders to deliver cost-efficient dbt models that support decision-making, while improving data quality and contributing to the data platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to Clair’s ELT pipeline by applying best practices in modeling, testing, documentation, and observability
- Build and maintain data models using dbt that power analytics and business decisions
- Ingest and model data from new source systems and incorporate it into the data warehouse
- Partner with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to define metrics, data definitions, and governance standards
- Support data governance, access control, and monitoring across the data stack
- Identify data quality issues and help resolve root causes
- Contribute ideas as Clair scales its data function
- Occasionally support the analytics team with ad-hoc or high-priority analysis
Required Qualifications
- 3-4 years of professional experience in the data analytics field
- Strong SQL proficiency
- 1-2 years hands-on experience modeling data with dbt in a production environment
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Familiarity with cloud data loading tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte, or Airflow
- Understanding of data modeling concepts (for example, dimensional modeling, Kimball)
- Experience with a scripting language such as Python or R
- Comfortable working in, or excited to work in, a high-growth start-up environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect technical work to clear business value

About the Role
As an Analytics Engineer, you will work at the intersection of engineering and analytics. The role emphasizes building data pipelines, creating clean and trustworthy datasets, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization including Product, Operations, and Finance. Your primary stakeholder is the analytics team, and you will work with data analysts and data scientists to design, develop, and deliver well-modeled, cost-efficient data models that support analyses and decision-making at Clair.
Examples of work include modeling product data into analytic reporting tables, supporting the data science team through feature pipelines, and helping build data management processes for production reporting. The role also involves identifying and optimizing Snowflake computing cost bottlenecks and contributing to a dbt code style guide.
Location and Schedule
- Location: New York, NY (hybrid)
- You are expected to come into the office at least three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays), with additional days on occasion for client meetings
Compensation
- Base salary: USD 140,000 - 150,000 per year
