Audio Visual Design Engineer
Job Description
Turn client concepts into build-ready commercial AV designs as an onsite Audio Visual Design Engineer in Nashville, TN.
Responsibilities
- Design full commercial AV systems for conference rooms, boardrooms, training spaces, and enterprise collaboration environments
- Create AV deliverables including signal flow diagrams, system drawings, and project documentation using Visio and/or CAD
- Review project scope, proposals, and kickoff information; ask the right technical questions to clarify requirements and assumptions
- Select AV equipment and define system architecture aligned with CTI standards, real-world constraints, and budget
- Coordinate with Sales, Project Managers, BIM/CAD, architects/consultants, IT, and electrical stakeholders to keep designs coordinated and buildable
- Provide technical direction and quality assurance on drawings so the field can trust what is shown
- Support execution by answering field/programming questions and addressing procurement clarifications/substitutions
- Update designs when site conditions change or when product availability requires adjustments
Requirements
- 3+ years designing commercial AV systems (signal flow experience is required)
- Strong experience producing AV documentation and drawings, including signal flow, system drawings, and work in Visio/CAD
- Ability to select equipment and develop practical, buildable solutions that match standards and budget
- Communication skills that support cross-team coordination and clear translation of technical details
- Collaborative, supportive work style with independence when needed and curiosity that supports good questions
- Associate degree preferred (not required); attitude and aptitude are important
