Job Description

Join City Light & Power, Inc. in Corona, California as a Civil/Structural Engineer - Power Systems Eng IV on a hybrid schedule. In this role you will design, develop, and oversee the civil and structural components of power infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet codes, standards, and project goals while advancing the safety and reliability of the grid.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans, designs, and cost estimates for power systems site development projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.
  • Analyze project requirements and produce technical specifications, calculations, and drawings in alignment with applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance feasibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of projects.
  • Prepare civil and structural designs for a variety of projects.
  • Coordinate with other departments, project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Perform site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to verify design conformance and regulatory compliance, maintaining accurate documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and stakeholders to identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review and approve their work products.
  • Stay current with new technologies, materials, and methods in power systems infrastructure and recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (required).
  • Eight or more years of civil engineering experience focused on power systems site development projects (required).
  • Demonstrated technical expertise, project management experience, and regulatory compliance knowledge for safe and reliable power systems infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design software.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards related to power systems design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal abilities for working with stakeholders, contractors, and regulators.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; California PE license preferred.

Compensation

Salary range: $116,000 - $144,000 per year, based on experience, plus eligibility to participate in a Short Term Incentive Plan. The employer reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range based on factors unrelated to sex.

Position Description

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Authorization | Security Clearance

Because the work involves federal government programs, candidates must be a U.S. citizen. Ability to obtain Military Base Access is required. A valid driver's license is required and must meet the CLP Fleet Policy standards.

Travel

Travel between job sites is expected, with 20-30% overnight travel anticipated.
