Cloud Security Engineer

Motion Recruitment is hiring a Cloud Security Engineer to safeguard cloud-hosted data ecosystems and cloud services in a highly distributed environment. In this role, you will focus on platform hardening, data protection for sensitive financial information, infrastructure resilience, control validation, and security automation. This is 100% hands on, with opportunities to strengthen security across multiple cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Harden and secure cloud infrastructure using established security best practices and baseline standards
• Build automated solutions to identify and remediate cloud configuration risks
• Implement controls to protect sensitive financial, operational, and client data
• Conduct security assessments of cloud resources and enterprise platforms
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve infrastructure security across cloud environments
• Support encryption, key management, and data protection initiatives
• Monitor cloud environments for risky configurations and compliance gaps
• Create automation scripts to enhance operational efficiency and improve security visibility
• Manage security findings from cloud assessments and coordinate remediation activities
• Produce technical documentation, security standards, and implementation procedures

Requirements

• 8+ years of cloud security or infrastructure security experience
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or multi-cloud security
• Experience securing cloud infrastructure and core platform services
• Knowledge of cloud configuration management and hardening standards
• Experience with cloud security posture management (CSPM) tools
• Understanding of encryption technologies and key management systems
• Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation programs
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals including DNS, VPNs, and firewalls
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform
• Proficiency with Python, PowerShell, or Bash
• Experience implementing security controls for enterprise data environments

Qualifications

• Location: Boston, MA (onsite)
• Minimum experience: 8 years
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Financial services or other regulated industry experience
• Familiarity with data loss prevention (DLP) technologies
• Experience securing cloud-based analytics or data lake environments
• Knowledge of cloud compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements
• Experience supporting large enterprise infrastructure environments
• Certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, CISSP, or similar
