Cloud Security Engineer

Byte Systems, a subsidiary of VTG, is hiring a Cloud Security Engineer in Herndon, VA (onsite) to strengthen cloud security monitoring, detection, and incident response automation.

Responsibilities

• Advise on the design, architecture, and implementation of cloud security monitoring systems at enterprise scale
• Build and maintain scripts and automation tools using Python or comparable programming languages
• Create and maintain automated incident response playbooks to streamline CSOC workflows
• Partner with CSOC team members to share findings and coordinate response activities
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship for junior staff
• Plan and implement cyber exercises and drills to improve team readiness
• Prepare reference and training materials covering cloud security and incident response
• Track and apply cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies relevant to cloud environments
• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI concepts applicable to cloud and incident response security
• Develop, tune, and optimize detection rules for AWS and other cloud platforms using Splunk Query Language

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in cloud security, cloud engineering, or cyber operations
• 7+ years of experience with Operating Systems, Network Infrastructure, Security Principles, or System Architecture
• 5+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, or Oracle
• 3+ years of experience coding and scripting in Python
