Coastal Engineering Consultants is seeking a skilled Coastal / Marine Project Engineer to lead a range of coastal and marine initiatives along the Gulf region from their Bonita Springs office. This full-time role blends field assessment with design leadership, with potential to assume engineer-in-responsible-charge responsibilities as experience grows. The position emphasizes hands-on project delivery, regulatory coordination, and practical engineering solutions that protect and enhance coastal communities.
Overview
Location: Bonita Springs, FL (onsite). Status: full-time. Salary: USD 80,000 per year. This role centers on delivering coastal and marine projects across the Gulf region, with opportunities to take on responsibilities as the engineer of record.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of seawalls, revetments, piers, docks, groins, jetties, and breakwaters
- Assess coastal, marine, and oceanographic processes to inform design decisions
- Prepare engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, technical reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and cost estimates
- Use CAD and engineering software to generate construction documents and guide designers and technicians
- Carry out topographic, bathymetric, hydrographic, and geotechnical surveys
- Deploy, monitor, and retrieve current meters, tide gauges, and wave gauges
- Manage environmental permit processes and coordinate with regulatory agencies
- Conduct construction administration and monitor project progress
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Coastal, Civil, Environmental, or Ocean Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of relevant coastal and marine engineering experience
- Eligibility to obtain a Florida Professional Engineer license within two years
- Proficiency in HYPACK and AutoCAD
- Small boat operation experience
- Ability to obtain USCG Captain’s License and/or SCUBA certification within one year
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Legal right to work in the United States without sponsorship for an indefinite period
