Controls Engineer

Controls Engineer position in Shakopee, MN (onsite) with Nortek Data Center Cooling.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to efficient and dependable sequences of operation for data center equipment and systems across the product portfolio.
• Complete assigned controls team tasks and help develop sequences of operations aligned with company goals and objectives.
• Identify opportunities to differentiate our controls strategies within the data center market.
• Collaborate with controls team members and other departments to drive integrated solutions.
• Ensure the completion of sequences of operations, HMI development, and on-time testing that meet product and customer specifications.
• Contribute to the creation of test plans and test scripts for performance and witness testing.
• Support efforts to automate end-of-line testing.
• Work directly with senior team members on sequence of operation design and test execution.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of HVAC and data center controls strategies.
• Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards.
• Ability to review schematics and P&ID drawings with strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Proficiency in block programming, structured text, and ladder logic.
• Understanding of fluid dynamics, psychrometrics, and HVAC electrical systems.

• Bias for action and the ability to lead continuous improvement efforts.
• Strategic thinker able to solve problems and provide innovative solutions to customer challenges.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of controls design and implementation experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
• Proven experience with controls strategy in the data center cooling industry, HVAC, or related fields.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with HVAC software systems, DDC/PLC-based controllers, building automation protocols, pumps, VFDs, and sensor/actuator systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

Salary: USD 90,000 to 110,000 per year.
