Cybersecurity Engineer

The Cybersecurity Engineer is a hands-on owner of day-to-day cybersecurity across Palermo’s IT and OT environments, translating security strategy into practical execution. This onsite role in Milwaukee focuses on hardening systems, addressing vulnerabilities, leading incident response, and improving protection for the plant floor.

Responsibilities

• Write security policies, run tabletop exercises, and plan enhancements aligned to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Secure the plant floor by implementing IT to OT segmentation, maintaining an OT asset inventory, and enabling secure vendor remote access.
• Define hardened configuration standards for servers, network, and backup systems, and implement them with the infrastructure team.
• Harden identity, endpoint, email, network, and cloud security across Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
• Lead security incident response during business hours and coordinate work with a managed detection and response partner.
• Run vulnerability management end to end, including scan, prioritize, remediate, verify, and report.
• Manage the security awareness platform and provide training to Pizzaiolos from the office through the plant floor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Five to ten years of experience in network, server, or systems administration or engineering.
• Two or more years of hands-on cybersecurity experience, such as security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, or identity and endpoint security.
• Working knowledge of a security framework such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or ISA/IEC 62443.
• Strong skills in Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and networking.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting manufacturing, food production, or other industrial environments.
• Experience securing Operational Technology (OT) or Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
• Experience with Hyper-V, Intune, Defender for Endpoint, Azure, and managed detection and response services.
• Experience using Claude or similar AI tools to improve productivity and output.
• Professional certifications such as Security+, CySA+, GICSP, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, CCNA, CISSP, or equivalent.

This position is based at Palermo’s headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You will split your time between the office, manufacturing facilities, and warehouse operations, partnering with Information Technology, Engineering, Operations, and executive leadership to strengthen cybersecurity and infrastructure across the enterprise.
